Steriods
Roger Clemons is one of the professional baseball players being investigated by congress for using steriods. He plays for one of the most expensive baseball organizations, the New York Yankees. His trainer is saying that he injected Clemons with steriods, but Clemons is denying it. There are so many other professional athletes that are doing steriods but why is Clemon's case so high profile? I think he is being targeted because he played with the Yankees. Is doing steriods cheating? I don't necessarily think it is cheating because you still need to put in the effort to get better and you need the mental part of the game. It may be ethically wrong to do steriods for professional athletes because they are supposed to be role models and are being payed to play. I don't agree with taking steriods but the only reason Clemons is getting so much press with this is because he is denying it. There is someone saying they gave it to him. If he did do it he needs to tell the truth and just hope people will stand behind him and understand.

im glad you wrote about this, this is something i've been thinking about a lot lately as well. i understand the message that congress is trying to send young athletes about steroids being wrong, but i disagree with what they're doing. at a time when our economy isn't so strong, they're wasting millions of dollars to prosecute players who didn't even break the law, they're basically throwing away millions of dollars to show what players used a HGH, a LEGAL steroid which wasn't even a banned substance in the MLB back when these players were using. its basically a bunch of cocky old men in congress who want to see players from certain teams, Giants, Yankees and so forth, have their reputations tarnished, because of something they may or may not have done back when it was legal. i agree that they shouldn't lie to a grand jury but they should never have to go to a grand jury to begin with! they should just let the privately admit they did it and let them go on their way.
I agree with both of you. If athletes want to destroy their bodies, the government has no right to step in. Leagues like the NHL, MLB, NBA all have plenty of money to test players for drugs if they were outlawed by the league. Bring up Rogers case this many years later is pretty ridiculous.
